With so much attention on yesterday's elections, I almost missed the news of best-selling author Michael Crichton passing away Tuesday, after a long, private battle with cancer.

He was the author of The Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, Congo and Timeline, to name but a few. In 1994 he created the hit-television show ER. Many of his books have been made into movies as well, including "Rising Sun" which starred Wesley Snipes and Sean Connery, the previously mentioned "Jurassic Park" which starred Jeff Goldblumm and Sam Neil.

His passing will leave a void in science-fiction books for years to come...

Ya this sucks. I said elsewhere that his books were some of hte best researched that I've ever read. Airframe just blew me away. Same with Prey. Guy was impressive.
